Here is information for those who are temporarily laid off from work. Get started so you can receive unemployment benefits as quickly as possible.
It is a challenging time in Norwegian working life, and many experience being laid off for shorter and longer periods. When you are laid off, it is important to contact NAV.
We also recommend that you stay in touch with your union (the department).
There is a lot to sort out when you are laid off. Here is advice for you who are laid off from your job.
1. Contact NAV
To receive unemployment benefits during layoff, you must apply to NAV. You must contact NAV as soon as you receive a layoff notice from your employer. Remember to inform NAV that you are a member of a trade union.

2. Inform your department
Notify your department at Fellesforbundet that you are laid off. There is currently a high volume of inquiries. Therefore, please use email when contacting the department.
If you are unsure whether the layoff has been carried out correctly, contact your union representative.
During layoff you pay a minimum contribution. The minimum contribution from 01.01.2025 is NOK 135 per month. You will receive an invoice.
3. Check the information we have about you
Log in to "My Page" and ensure that you are registered with the correct mobile number, e-mail and bank account number. This will ensure that you receive relevant information even if you are laid off.

4. Financial problems?

5. Important info
You can be recalled to work on short notice when you are laid off.
You may take other work while you are laid off, but your entitlement to unemployment benefits ends as long as you have another job.
During layoff, pursuant to the Working Environment Act, section 15.3, you may resign from your position with a notice period of 14 days calculated from the day the resignation is received by the employer. In addition, under the LO-NHO Main Agreement Chapter 7.6, if layoff extends beyond three months you may resign from your position without any notice.
